Douglas R.Hoyt, President '11 Doug first visited the Island in 1968. Originally from New Rochelle, NY, Doug is an attorney and practiced law in New York for 35 years before retiring to Block Island in December, 2002. Doug can be found gardening around Town as part of a small business he maintains. For the past few years he has maintained the flowers at Rebecca for the Block Island Gardeners. Doug was elected to BIC in 2000 and its President in 2002. He was recently elected to serve an additional four year term. |

Debbie Howarth,Treasurer '08 Debbie grew up in Wilton, CT and graduated from Wilton High School and Smith college. She vacationed on Block Island with her family in the 60s and became a year round resident in 1972, shortly after her marriage to Fred Howarth. Fred and Debbie raised their children, Jason and Jessy, on the island and both still live here. Debbie is the conservation representative to the BI Housing Board. She and Fred own Finn's and Ernie's. |

David Lewis,Secretary '08 The Lewis legacy on Block Island dates continuously from 1817. David was born in Rockville Centre, NY and came home to Block Island with his parents at the age of 3 weeks. With 12 years at Block Island School, David graduated from Harvard with a degree in biology. A 34 year employee of General Dynamics Corporation, David is an information technology project specialist at Electric Boat in Connecticut, and is on Block Island about 45 weekends a year. Block Island is his home although he sleeps most nights in Coventry, RI. David has been active with Block Island Conservancy since 1992, and was president from 1994 to 1998. |

Peter Greenman, '11Peter Greenman is our Stewardship Chairman. Peter and his wife Sandra built their home on Block Island in 1982, retiring to the Island in 1994. They lived in Cohasset, Massachusetts from 1958 until they moved to Block Island. Peter began working for conservation in 1996 when he began volunteering his time to maintain the Nature Conservancy Trails which he continues to do. He is always happy to hear suggestions towards improving our trails and properties |

Betty Lang, '10 Betty and her husband, Fraser, are the publishers of the Block Island Times. She has been coming to Block Island since 1972 and she and her husband bought their home on Cooneymus Road in 1995. She is the mother of two sons, Ian and Brent, and a daughter, Cameron. She is an avid walker roaming over miles of the nature trails with her dog, Brodie. |

Nancy Pike, '11 Nancy grew up in Wilton CT coming to Block Island first in 1964 spending the month of July every year after, she received her B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University and moved to the Island in 1983. She has two children who graduated from the Block Island School, Lily graduated from Brown in 2007 and Harry is a sophomore at Trinity College. Nancy served on the Block Island Land Trust for 6 years and is co-owner of Beach Real Estate. |

Stephen Record, '08 Steve and his wife Mary Sue began to vacation on Block Island in 1990, bought a house on the island in 2000, and became full time island residents in 2003 after concluding an assignment in Germany. He has degrees from Yale in art history (BA 1969) and statistics (MA 1976), also studied forestry at the University of Montana, and has worked as a software programmer for 32 years. Preferred activities include travel, reading, walking, landscaping, and feeding (and watching) songbirds. Much time is also spent in the service of three cats. |
